Pranab Mukherjee, 84, breathed his last at the Army Hospital in Delhi on Monday evening. He had been ill for several days and was hospitalized. A few days ago, Pranab Mukherjee also came positive for Koro. His surgery was also performed. Pranab Mukherjee’s son Abhijeet Mukherjee tweeted about Pranab Mukherjee’s death.
Pranab Mukherjee was born on 11 December 1935 in West Bengal. He was born in a Brahmin family in Mirati village near Kirnahar town in West Bengal’s Virbhum district. He became the 13th President of India. On January 26, 2019, Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the Bharat Ratna. He took over as the 13th President of India on July 25, 2012.

Pranab Mukherjee did his MA in Political Science and History from Kolkata University. He was also a clerk in the Deputy Account General (Post and Telegraph). He also lectured in Political Science at Vidyanagar College, Kolkata in 1963.
His contribution to the international arena
Pranab Mukherjee was a member of the Board of Governors of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank. In 1984, he chaired a meeting of the Group 24 with the IMF and the World Bank. He chaired the SAARC Council of Ministers in May and November 1995.
The political journey began in 1969
Pranab’s political career began in 1969. He successfully handled VK Krishna Menon’s campaign in the Midnapore by-election. Indira Gandhi, who was then the Prime Minister, had included him in the party considering his talent. In 1969, Pranab was elected to the Rajya Sabha. He was subsequently elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1975, 1981, 1993 and 1999.
Mukherjee made significant contributions in the fields of politics and social policy. He became India’s defense minister when the Congress party came to power in 2004. He was then appointed Foreign Minister in October 2006. Mukherjee became India’s finance minister in the second term of the Manmohan Singh government.
Pranab Mukherjee’s political journey began in West Bengal in 1969 with the Midnapore by-election. In West Bengal, Siddharth Shankar Roy proposed to Pranab Mukherjee before Indira Gandhi, who became a member of the Rajya Sabha at the tender age of 35.
